HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic High School will go “Around the World” for homecoming next week, sending seniors to Mexico, juniors to Uganda and freshmen to India — all without leaving Hartington.
The theme anchors a week of dress-up days, class competitions and Friday night festivities capped by a football showdown with Tekamah-Herman and a late-night coronation.
Homecoming themes by class: seniors, Mexico; juniors, Uganda; sophomores, Canada; freshmen, India; eighth grade, Italy; and seventh grade, Egypt.
Dress-up days include: Monday: Pajama Day. Tuesday: Twin/Triplet Day. Wednesday: Class Color Day — seniors in black, juniors red, sophomores blue, freshmen pink, eighth grade green and seventh grade yellow. Class competitions begin at 1 p.m.
Thursday: Hartington business T-shirt day, with Mass at 8 a.m.
Friday: Red-and-white Cedar shirt with jeans day.
Students will decorate floats and the Holy Trinity Gym; sack lunch at 11 a.m.; parade at about 11:30 a.m. with a pep rally to follow at the Msgr. Werner Activity Center. There will be a 1 p.m. dismissal.
Friday night’s football game against Tekamah-Herman kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
The annual Ford truck fundraising raffle is planned for halftime.
The homecoming king and queen will be crowned at 10 p.m. at Holy Trinity Gym.
