Calley Stewart (Right) won Senior Poultry Showmanship and Grady Stewart won third place in Junior Poultry Showmanship at his first ever State Fair. Eli Stewart also won the Modern Game Class for Bantams at the State Fair 4-H show. Ava and Calley Stewart participated in the FFA poultry show for the first time on behalf of Hartington-Newcastle FFA Chapter. Calley Stewart’s cochin hen won reserve champion feather-legged breed. Calley Stewart also won the Sophomore Showmanship Division & Banner while, Ava Stewart won the Senior Showmanship Division and Banner. Both Stewart sisters earned a perfect 100 point score from the showmanship judge. A perfect score of 100 hadn’t been awarded at the Nebraska State Fair for 13 years. Both sisters had to answer tie-breaker questions until Ava Stewart was declared the Overall Showmanship Award for the 2025 Nebraska State FFA Poultry Show. Ava and Calley have been showing poultry at the county level since they were 8-years- and 6-years-old respectively, but this was their first time showing FFA poultry at the state level.
