BATTLE CREEK - The Laurel- Concord-Coleridge Lady Bear
volleyball team got o to a hot start Aug. 28 sweeping a pair of matches in a triangular hosted by Battle Creek along with West Holt.
LCC turned away West Holt 25-16, 25-12 then swept the Bravettes 25-17 and 25-19 to open the season 2-0.
In the sweep over Battle Creek, Carlie Kvols tipped up 21 set assists which made 43 on the night after tipping up 22 in the opening match with the Lady Huskies.
Rena Rasmussen made good on seven of the assists and Tyler Recob added six winners. Kaida Eriksen slammed five and Lainey Folkers tacked on three.
Justice Olson served up four aces in the match.
Recob also contributed nine digs, Hattie McCorkindale had seven and Rasmussen had six.
Eriksen successfully passed 11 serves out of the back row.
In the sweep over Atkinson, Rasmussen paced the attack with 14 kills in the match with Kvols putting up the 22 assists. Kvols had four winners of her own as did Recob.
Eriksen had 10 digs. The Lady Bears were set to welcome Ponca on Sept. 2 in Greater Northeast Activities Conference action before traveling to Elkhorn Valley for another conference match on Sept. 4.
