Commissioners approve levy authority for other boards

HARTINGTON — Cedar County commissioners on Aug. 26 approved levy authority for seven local boards for the 2025–26 fiscal year, covering the county fair board and six rural fire districts.

The vote acknowledges each board’s preliminary tax request, as required by state law, and authorizes them to levy the property-tax revenue needed to meet those requests.

Approved amounts: Cedar County Ag Society: $172,000.00 Hartington Fire District: $191,760.00 Laurel Fire District: $173,400.00 Randolph Fire District: $74,597.50 Coleridge Fire District: $69,360.00 Wynot Fire District: $173,911.25 Belden Fire District: $41,960.00 Total preliminary levy authority: $896,988.75.

The resolution (No. 2514) passed on a motion by Commissioner Dave McGregor, seconded by Commissioner Dick Donner. No commissioners voted no.
