June 22: Man calls to report he was just in a fender bender on a minimum maintenence road and would like an ocer to come and investigate.

Driver calls to report she just saw a tractor parked on the side of the road along Highway 81. The driver was slumped over in the seat and she was concerned that he might need medical attention. Dispatcher said he would send someone to investigate.

Caller reported he just drove past a man walking on the highway who is “yelling at the vehicles as they drive by him.” Dispatcher advised he will send an oce r.

June 23: Caller reported seeing a stolen four-wheeler in northern Cedar County.

Woman calls concerned that a family argument is escalating to the point where something might happen.

Fordyce woman calls to report a phone scam. “They say they are calling from Nebraska DMV and I have an unpaid ticket, but I haven’t had one of those in years.” She was advised not to give out any information.

Woman calls to ask for a welfare check on a relative who she hasn’t heard from since Mother’s Day and is concerned.

Caller says he is getting letters and texts from the Nebraska DMV and about tolls he owes. “We have paid them twice, now and they are still coming after us for money. They are threatening to revoke my license.” He is advised they are a scam and he is given a number to report them to the FTC.

Yankton caller said she was scammed over the weekend by someone claiming to be a deputy from the Cedar County Sheri's oce.

“He said I had warrants so I drove down there from Yankton and parked where he told me to park in front of the library. He knew everything about your oce. I told him you don’t work weekends, but he said, ‘oh, yes they do.’ So I went and bought the stupid card and gave them the num- ber for it. He called o a 256 number. I called back and the message said ‘you have reached so and so from the Cedar County Sheri's oce. I only answered because it was a Laurel number. I should have known better.” Dispatcher said there is nothing they can do, now.

Hartington Fire Department called to advise they had issued a burn permit to Folkers Brothers Garage.

Hartington woman calls asking for information about four-wheelers driving on streets in town. She is advised they need an orange flag and passengers must be at least eight years old.

June 24: A representative from the Defense and Counterintelligence Agency calls about a background check on a Cedar County resident.

Man called asking for assistance. He was driving his motorcycle on a gravel road in southern Cedar County when “the bike overheated and fell apart on me. I have no cell service and this is the only number I can call.” Man then says he is feeling very dizzy, too. “I was going up a hill and when the bike fell apart I slammed my head into the handlebars.” Dispatcher then dispatched an ambulance to the scene.

Woman flags down an ocer driving down the road. The woman was lost and needed directions.

Man calls for a welfare check on his ex-wife who is with his kids. He has been trying to contact them and none of their phones are being answered.

June 25: The city of Laurel obtained a burn permit to burn trees at the city dump.

Caller reported that a semi truck went into the ditch and got stuck.

Randolph ambulance paged out for man with an elevated temperature and very short of breath.

Caller advised they pulled o onto a mini mum maintenance road to go to the bathroom, but got their trailer stuck in the process. Dispatcher gave them the number of a tow truck company. They called back later to say they were out of the mud and back on the road headed home to Kansas.

Hartington store employee calls to report a woman who “came in here all bloody.” She went into the bathroom, caller believes she needs help. “She is with a man I’ve seen before, he is bad news. I think she needs to be checked on. She is making comments that are making my Mom gut scream that she needs help.”

Man calls about a fire at a house in St. Helena.

"The town is filling up with smoke.” Wynot Volunteer Fire Department is paged out. Hartington is also called out for mutual aid. All units were cancelled when it was discovered it was just a very smokey back yard bon fire.

June 26: Belden caller reports his brother needs medical assistance. “He is shaking badly and has acid reflux."

Wynot Fire Department calls to inform the Sheri's oce they issued a burn permit to Jesse Koch.

Caller asked to see if the jail was housing her relative. Dispatcher responded that he was in custody, but could not tell her how long he might be there.

Woman called to get information about an accident she was in a few years ago. She needs a report to take with her to small claims court.

Caller reports a no-injury two vehicle accident on Hwy. 81.
