RANDOLPH — Ronald Lage of Carroll, 21 year old right handed hurler, who was Randolph’s pitching main-stay in the “49 baseball season, was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday after a threeday tryout camp at Omaha.

RANDOLPH — The Wilson-Abts Post of the American Legion elected new officers Tuesday night when they chose Russell Van Slyke, World War II veteran as their commander. The others elected were Raymond Beltz, vice commander; Emmett Moes, adjunct; Dr. L.T. Peebles, finance officer; Kenneth Rosenbach, service officer; Marvin Lienemann, sergeant at arms; Arthur Retland, chaplain.

RANDOLPH — Barbara Sauser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Sauser, entered Sacred Heart Convent at Yankton on Saturday. She is a candidate for a sister in the Benedictine Order. A graduate of St. Frances High School in 1954, she attended Mount Marty College at Yankton last year and also studied there this summer, taking a laboratory technician’s course.

RANDOLPH — Three Randolph 4-H club members will be on teams or individual demonstration representing Cedar County at the Nebraska State Fair.
Don Marreel and Joe Mannion were named to 4-H livestock judging team which will represent Cedar at the state fair. Mary Ann Paulsen was a blue ribbon winner in the home economics demonstration. She will give her demonstration at the state fair.

RANDOLPH — Randolph got the big honors at the Cedar County Fair 4-H fat beef show as Don Marreel showed the Grand Champion steer and Stanley Claussen the Reserve Champion steer.
Both boys are members if the Eagle Valley 4-H club, of which Leonard Simmons and Henry Claussen are leaders.

RANDOLPH — Miss Margaret Ann Kuhl has accepted a position as vocational home economics teacher in Hershey High School. Zach Boughn, who taught the last two years in California, will be an instructor in Hartington High School this year.
Miss Barbara Havorka, who taught two years in the high school at Sturgis, S.D. has taken a position as elementary girls physical education instructor in the school system at Rapid City, S.D.
