LCC golfers start new campaign with runner-up finish

BEEMER - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears golf team opened the 2025 golf season with a runner-up finish at the West Point-Beemer Invitational at Indian Trails Country Club on Aug. 21.

BEEMER - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears golf team opened the 2025 golf season with a runner-up finish at the West Point-Beemer Invitational at Indian Trails Country Club on Aug. 21.

The Lady Bears were 11 shots behind tournament champion Oakland-Craig after carding a 458 as a group with the Lady Knights posting a 447.

“We are excited and encouraged for the season after getting second,” said LCC coach Christina Patefield. “It should be a great season. We had a player sick today (Holly Patefield), so that’s not bad for the first meet.”

Archbishop Bergan was third at 472, Ashland-Greenwood was a stroke behind Bergan at 473 and West Point-Beemer was fifth after shooting a 475.

Oakland-Craig’s Emma Anderson carded the low round of the day with an 83, Molli Miller from West Point-Beemer was the runner-up after firing a 97 and winning a scorecard playoff with South Sioux City’s Madelynn Bohnet who also came in with a 97.

Lydia Felber of the TC Thunder was fourth with a 106 and Jordy Grohs of Bergan rounded out the top five with a 107.

Lady Bear Harper Bruning was sixth with a 108 and teammate Alyza Leinard led a log jam of seven players at 113, winning a scorecard playoff to take seventh.

Danica Gould finished just two spots out of the medals, taking 17th with a 118, Kennedy Hall was 20th, just one shot back and Mavis Jonas used a 129 to place 25th.

The Lady Bears had a couple of players in the JV tournament, with Stella Kock shooting a 95 and Tanya Miranda firing a 104.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will continue its season in a triangular on Aug. 26 at the Wayne Country Club with the Lady Blue Devils and Cedar Catholic then return to Wayne for the Wayne Invitational on Aug. 29.
