The sun was hot and the humidity high, but that did not deter the participants of this year’s first cross-country meet in Hartington at the Community Complex. Brad Arens, X-pert Lawn and Landscaping and caretaker of the complex, was asked to keep the sprinklers running to help the runners cool off. Defending state cross country champion Carson Noecker took the lead in his first 300 yards and didn’t look back until he crossed the finish line, with the next runner coming in over three minutes later.
