PHILLIPS — Robert C. Nelson, 74, Phillips, died Oct. 22, 2007, at Bryan LGH East, Lincoln.
Visitation was Oct. 26 at Solt Funeral Home, Central City.
Funeral services were Oct. 27 at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church, rural Aurora, with Rev. Barry McCormick officiating.
Burial was in the Mamre Church Cemetery.
Bob was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Hamilton County, to Victor O. and Hazel B. (Lear) Nelson. He grew up in the Marquette area and graduated from Marquette High School in 1950. Bob attended Nebraska Central College in Central City, where he played football. He married Rosella “Rosi” G. Poole June 22, 1952, in Grand Island. Bob served in the Korean Conflict with the Army from Feb. 5, 1953-Feb. 5, 1955. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Marquette area, and they moved to the Phillips area in 1962. He farmed in the Marquette and Phillips area until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, he did seasonal work for the Marquette Elevator.
Bob was a member of the Monroe Evangelical Free Church.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing; but his greatest love was for his family and he was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in April.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella “Rosi” Nelson, Phillips; three daughters, Danise Nelson, Greeneville, Tenn.; Noreen and Keith Gould, Laurel; and Kim and Russ McDonald, Omaha; one son, Nathan and Kristin Nelson, Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Brian and Amy Gould; Brett Gould; Kacie Gould; Silas and Cathy McDonald; Rebekah McDonald; Sarah McDonald; Carter Nelson; and Colin Nelson; one sister, Marge and Marvin Davis, Chatsworth, Calif.; three brothers-in-law and spouses, Don and Lucille Poole and Glenn and Lee Poole, all of Grand Island; and Marty and Jan Poole, Scottsbluff; three sisters-in-law and spouses, Kay Poole, Council Bluffs; Elaine and Lee Sims, Windsor, Colo.; and Delores Cross, Kansas City, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Virginia Broman; and four brothers-in-law.
