Obituary – Duane Pfund

COLERIDGE — Duane Pfund, age 57, of Coleridge,  died from cancer on Monday, February 25, 2008 at his residence.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge with Rev. Andreas Stein officiating.  Inurnment will be at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
Duane was born on March 5, 1950 at Laurel, NE to John and Mildred (Miller) Pfund.  He grew up in Coleridge and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1968.  He attended the Denver Automotive Institute studying auto mechanics.  In November of 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam until his discharge in 1971.  Duane spent many years in Chico, CA where he worked as a journeyman electrician for Agri Electric.  He also attended college on the GI bill.  He returned to Coleridge in August of 2007.  He appreciated being able to spend the last few months of his life surrounded by his family.  Duane loved to read and was a free spirit who respected and accepted the differences in other people.

Duane is survived by a brother, Don and Nancy Pfund of Spirit Lake, Iowa, 2 sisters, Dorothy and Larry Paulsen of Coleridge, Darlene and Dallas Puntney of Emmet, NE, 10 nieces and nephews, 3 aunts and 1 uncle.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
