New pub opens doors

RANDOLPH – A new business has opened in downtown Randolph.

Donna Mae Schutt has opened Pub and Grub in the former Drunken Moose, opening the pub part of the business last week.

The grub side of the business will be fully established in the coming months, she said, but will include traditional bar and grill food like hamburgers, fries, chicken strips, wings and onion rings.

Pub and Grub is open Tuesday through Friday, starting at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sundays, starting at 2 p.m., with routine Happy Hour specials.

Schutt purchased the building from Vernon Forney earlier this year and spent a lot of time cleaning and organizing before re-opening the establishment under the new name. The entire kitchen was remodeled, and new flooring and new paint completes the updated look. The game room was updated with a new foosball table and dart game machine.

Along with a new look inside, Schutt will be adding exterior signs soon.

“I’ve always dreamed of owning a business. I’ve always wanted something of my own. I know it takes a lot of hours and a lot of days,” she said.

But at least now, her commute is a lot shorter.

Prior to opening the business, Schutt traveled 500 miles per week, managing the Tilden grocery store. She has more than two decades of previous restaurant and bartending experience.

There are two part-time employees but Schutt is the main cook, bartender and everything in between at Pub and Grub.

Schutt said her family has been a tremendous support in getting the business remodeled and the doors open.

“I know it can get tiresome. I know it takes a lot of hours and a lot of days,” Schutt said. “I’ve got to try and get all the ins and outs, ups and downs figured out.”
