HARTINGTON — Hartington-Newcastle senior Jacob Gothier has the male lead in this year’s One Act production of “Man of La Mancha.” Gothier comes from a family known for their performance on stage, and has helped bring the Wildcats to another state title opportunity.
Gothier has only participated in One Act for three of the four years in high school. As a freshman, he elected to perform with his father in a production in Yankton that took place at the same time as One Act. Gothier’s father, Ben, has gained recent attention for his roles in independent movies.
Jacob says he has learned from his father and uncles, Beau and Brandon, and loves being on stage.
“I can get a little cocky with my part, probably because I get so many compliments I guess, but when I get my makeup on and get ready for the show, I get so nervous. My heart drops and my stomach drops, and I wonder what if I miss a line? What if I screw up, but as soon as I hit the stage and say my first line, I am good,” said Gothier.
Gothier basically plays three characters in this year’s One Act production.
