Rockport, Texas — Gerald M. “Scotty” Scott, 79, Rockport, Texas, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sept. 29, 2013, at his home in Rockport.
Visitation, with a vigil service and a KC Rosary, were Oct. 6 at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home, Storm Lake.
Funeral services were Oct. 7 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Storm Lake.
Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Cemetery with full military rites by the AMVETS Post #66.
The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home, Storm Lake, was in charge of the arrangements.
Gerald Marion Scott was born at home March 7, 1934, to Osborn H. Scott and Malania M. (Schmitt) Scott. He was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant and received his education at Randolph Grade and High Schools, Randolph, graduating in 1951. Scotty went into the United States Navy and served as an aerial engineer during the Korean War, 1952-1955. Following the service, he attended Universal Trades School, Omaha, graduating in 1956. He married Agnes Brander Sept. 2, 1957, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sioux City, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Storm Lake to open a business, Scott Refrigeration. Scotty retired in 2012. The couple was blessed with four children, Kelly, Julie, Daniel and Karen. His wife, Agnes, died in 2006. He married Cynthia Eberle in 2013 and moved to Rockport, Texas.
Scotty was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed painting, fishing, gardening, cheering on the Cornhuskers, spending time with his children, brothers, sister, friends and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his children, daughter, Kelly Den Hartog, Port Byron, Ill.; daughter and husband, Julie and Don Erps, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son and wife, Daniel and Teri Scott, Beresford, S.D.; daughter, Karen Scott (Cory Hawkins), Storm Lake, Iowa; wife, Cindy Scott, Rockport, Texas, and her son, Geoff Eddie, Pella, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer Harding, Michael Erps, Derek Harjes, Heather Wagner, Nate Harjes, Alex Den Hartog, Ben Simonds and Sam Simonds; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon, Eugene, Laverne, Larry and Ron; and a sister, Donna; extended family and many friends.
Scotty was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; his parents, Osborn and Melane Scott; and four brothers: Duane Scott, Lowell Scott, Dale Scott and LaMont Scott.
