WAYNE — Sharon Corbit, 68, Wayne, died March 26, 2011, at the Milford Nursing Center, Milford, Iowa.
Visitation was March 31 at Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.
Funeral Services were April 1 at First United Methodist Church, Wayne, with Rev. Pete Phillips officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers were Ted and Deanna Gunnarson, Duane Lutt, Carolyn and Dave Lebsock, Becky Wilson, Rita and Paul Kerr, Ginny Otte, Vicki Pick and Joann Proett.
Active Pallbearers were Tim Corbit, Matt Roemen, Todd Gunnarson, Brad Gunnarson, Robbie Gamble, Brian Gamble and Brent Gamble.
Interment was in Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wayne.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Homes, Wayne.
Sharon Loray Corbit was born July 15, 1942, at Concord, to Theodore and Ida (Forsberg) Gunnarson. She attended country school near Concord and graduated from Wayne High School. Sharon married William “Bill” Corbit Nov. 2, 1963, at the United Presbyterian Church, Wayne. She lived most of her life in Wayne until moving to Milford, Iowa, in 2005.
Sharon was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wayne. She was dedicated to helping The March of Dimes and was instrumental in passing educational legislation for children with disabilities from birth until three years of age.
Sharon is survived by her children and spouses, Tim and Cindy Corbit, Roberts, Wis.; Kecia and Matt Roemen, Nixa, Mo.; Kali Corbit and Heath Corbit, both of Spirit Lake, Iowa; grandchildren, Luke and Mark Roemen; Shannon (Andy) Sexe and Caycie (Nick) Volek; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Cammy Letcher, Anthony Sexe, and Presley Volek; brother and wife, Ted and Deanna Gunnarson, Wayne; and sister-in-law, Linda Gamble, Wayne.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William “Bill,” in 1991; and brother-in-law, Jim Corbit.
