HARTINGTON — A 37-year-old Cedar County man has been arrested on a sexual assault charges.
William Kelly, rural Laurel, was charged with two counts of sexual assault, which are both Class II Felonies, and two counts of incest, which are Class III Felonies.
Kelly was arraigned in Cedar County Court Friday and his bond was then set at $50,000, ten percent of $500,000. He is required to post the bond before he can be released from jail.
A preliminary hearing was set for March 9, at 10:45 a.m., at the Cedar County Courthouse.
Kelly is being lodged in the Cedar County Jail, Hartington.
Court documents allege the victim had been sexually assaulted several times while in the states of Iowa and Nebraska.
The victim underwent a medical examination at the Mercy Medical Center Child Advocacy Center, Sioux City, Iowa, as part of the investigation.
The medical exam revealed the teenager could have been sexually assaulted from the age of five or six years old into her teen years.
Nebraska State Patrol Investigator D.W. Johnson and Iowa Police Detective Mike Simons participated in the investigation.
