The Lady Bears got off to a quick start Tuesday, thumping Cedar Catholic 25-15 in the opener. The Lady Trojans came back in the next set to earn a 25-23 decision, though. L-C got back on track in the next set, earning the 25-18 win. Cedar again charged back to claim the fourth set in a lopsided 25-16 decision. “Second round SubDistrict matchups are often very tight, and this game was no exception,” Coach Patti Cunningham said. “Both teams know what’s on the line and must compete to advance. Performances many times then include a lot of back-and-forth play, energetic surges of points scored, and also some pressure-induced let-downs. ”
Cunningham was proud of the way her squad percevered Tuesday.
Kacie Gould and Kari Schroeder paced the team at the service line. Schroeder was 23-24 with six aces from the line, while Schroeder was 22-23 with two ace serves.
“The Bears showed they had the composure necessary to finish,” she said.
