HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats split a pair of Lewis and Clark Conference contests last week.
The Lady Cats fell to Bloomfield in three sets Tuesday and defeated Osmond in three sets Thursday.
Bloomfield took control of the contest early to defeat Hartington, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.
The Lady Cats were led at the net by Devon Kathol, who had eight kills. Sheila Wiebelhaus contributed with three kills
Liz Kneifl and Nikki Heikes set up the offense with seven and five assists, respectivley.
The Hartington defense was led in the contest by Dana Fuelberth, who had 10 digs and two ace blocks.
Ali Lammers led the team at the service line connecting on 12- 14 with four aces. Sheila Wiebelhaus galso fared well at the service line with an 8-10 effort and four aces.
“This was not the home opener we had planned on,” Coach Lori Peitz said. “Bloomfield played great floor defense and picked up many good attacks. We were flat and made way too many serving errors.”
In the C match, Hartington defeated Bloomfield, 15-13, 9-15, 15-6.
Leading attackers in that contest were: Kayla Benson, 4 kills; Kristie Jueden, 3 kills; Jenna Potts, 3 kills.
Lisa Thoene set up the offense with six assists. She also led the team in serving with six aces.Kelsey Konken served three aces in that contest.
In the JV match, Bloomfield defeated Hartington, 21-18, 22-20.
Megan Goeden and Sierra DePlege led HPS at the net with three kills each. Thoene again set up the offense with five assists.
Jenna Potts led the defense with seven digs.
OSMOND — Hartington defeated Osmond 25-17,25-20, 25-14 on Thursday.
Sheila Wiebelhaus was a force at the net for Hartington, knocking down eight kills. Kimber Rohde was also solid with seven kills.
Liz Kneifl and Nikki Heikes set up the offense with seven and six assists, respectively.
Kneifl also helped lead the team at the service line with a 15-15 effort and four aces, Kassydi Jueden was great at the line, as well, making good on 17-18 serves with four aces.
Wiebelhaus paced the defense with 14 digs. Devon Kathol was also a force on defense with 13 blocks (two ace blocks) and two digs.
In the C Match, Osmond Defeated Hartington 15-13, 10-15, 15-13.
Jenna Potts paced the offense with three kills. Kayla Benson led the team at the service line with seven ace serves. Kristie Jueden had five ace serves.
Benson also led the defense with 12 digs.
In the JV game, Hartington defeated Osmond 21-19, 21-14
Nanette Heimes led the team at the net with three kills. Jenna Potts had two kills
“The girls rebounded from a disappointing match on Tuesday night and played well against Osmond. We passed the ball well which allowed our offense to work. Kimber Rohde had a strong match attacking and Devon Kathol had a solid night blocking. Dana Fuelberth had another strong match passing the ball,” Coach Peitz said.
